Events scheduled for summer camp:

Friday, June 14 9am-12pm: Tucker Leadership Lab (Liberty, MO: William Jewell University)): Problem Solving in a fun way, trying out obstacles on the ground. There are ropes courses in the air, but we are NOT doing those. We will be doing a specially created leadership/problem solving course designed specifically for us by Julie and the Tucker Team. https://www.jewell.edu/learn/beyond-classroom/tucker-leadership-lab

Tuesday, July 9 1-4pm: Epic Sports Lodge: Teens will be playing wacky sports, soccer, wiffleball, kickball, relay races, etc. (Independence) https://www.kcsportslodge.com/

Friday, July 12 9am-12pm: Blue River Forrest School (Overland Park): A favorite from last year, teens will get to explore in the creek more this year. We will have a picnic lunch here and explore the great outdoors.  https://blueriverforestexperience.org/forestschool

Tuesday, July 16 1-4pm: School of Economics (Blue Springs): Teens will work in groups to run different stores and sell different items. They will make their product and then sell it, as well as getting to walk around and purchase items. We will work on making and keeping money and learning how to spend it appropriately.  http://www.schoolofecon.org/

Friday, July 19 9am-12pm: Kansas City Downtown Scavenger Hunt (Downtown, KCMO): We will try out public transportation! We will meet downtown and take the streetcar. While on its route, we will get off at different locations to find different things. We will visit places like (but not guaranteed) the downtown library, the downtown rooftop park, union station, Kauffman center, etc.

Tuesday, July 23 1-4pm: Spiderman: Far From Home Movie at B&B Theatre (Liberty, MO): We have an entire theatre to ourselves. Parents will need to send money for snacks so teens can work on money skills and making choices  https://www.bbtheatres.com/location/liberty-cinema-12

Friday, July 26 9am-12pm: Deanna Rose Farmstead (Overland Park, KS): Teens will be checking out the farm and enjoying all the sights, but will also take a turn at volunteering in the goat pen to help the children feed the goats. It is important to give back! Deanna Rose is counting on us to volunteer and we must provide assistance. Not all teens have to volunteer, as we know that some may not like this sort of up close interaction. Staff will be with teens in the goat pen as well.  https://www.opkansas.org/things-to-see-and-do/deanna-rose-childrens-farmstead/

Tuesday, July 30 1-4pm: Pinnacle Gymnastics (Shawnee, KS): Teens will be learning gymnastics and having fun in the gym. https://pinngym.com/

He will teach dancing moves, safe and appropriate grafiti as an art form, and record scratching (im sure theres a technical name for it). SugEasy came to us for Spring Break camp, now we get to see his studio! https://breakfreekansascity.com/

Tuesday, August 6 1-4pm: Fun in the Park (Broadmoor Park, Mission, KS): Teens will be able to hang out with friends, play sports on the baseball and soccer fields, theres a playground, and a shelter. We will have some snacks and have a good time celebrating the end of summer and a fun camp!

Friday, August 9 9am-12pm: Heartland Therapeutic Riding Center (19655 Antioch,
Bucyrus, KS 66013)We will be visiting a different horse riding center where we will get to care for and learn about horses. Teens will do several activities at the center including, but not limited to, grooming horses, art projects, games, hay rides, etc. There will be a van leaving from DSG and rides available on FCFS basis. There are only 25 spots available for this event, due to limited space at the center. Not all campers will get a spot to this event, but this is the only event with limited space. We will NOT be riding the horses.
