Research

DSG lists various research study opportunities to make members aware of some of the research being completed regarding Down syndrome. Please note DSG cannot endorse any studies and encourages members to be smart consumers when choosing to participate in any research study. See below to learn more about future, current and past research endeavors.

Communication Complexity Scale (CCS) Research:

Julie Evnen, MSW Project Coordinator for The Communication Complexity Scale  https://lsidata.ku.edu/ccs/index.php

They are currently working with people who:

  • · Are 3-60 years old
  • · Have 0-20 functional words/signs
  • · Use English as a first language
  • · Have some functional use of their hands/arms to complete activities with us
  • · Have vision and hearing that is good enough to be able to understand and interact with us

They are looking for participants to validate this assessment. The assessment can be done in an agency setting or the home. It takes around one hour to complete and there is a $50 compensation. Stacy McNeil has packets to participate. Stacy.arcare@yahoo.com
