World Down syndrome day
Nominate a Community Champion
DSG is celebrating World Down Syndrome Day on 3/21 by recognizing community members who provide dedicated and exemplary service to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Do you know of an educator, physician, employer, therapist or other service provider that is going above and beyond? If so, we hope you will remit a nomination so DSG can recognize this person or organization. We have fun prizes planned and will be making special deliveries on 3/21 to celebrate our award winners. Does my family member need a guardian?
One of the critical issues facing parents, siblings or other concerned family members of an adult who has Down syndrome is how to best assist and protect him or her when it comes to making legal, financial and medical decisions. View some helpful resources on this topic here.
The Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide support and resources for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the professionals who serve them. DSG seeks to provide the entire community with information and education to broaden awareness and foster positive attitudes regarding people with Down syndrome.
DSG invites you to learn more about Down syndrome, our programs and services and to get involved. NDSC Convention Scholarships
The NDSC 2015 Convention is June 25-28th in Phoenix, AZ. It provides a wonderful opportunity for parents, young adults with Down syndrome, siblings, educators and professionals to benefit from educational sessions, social support and the latest medical/research news. The DSG has limited scholarship funds to award to DSG member(s) to attend the NDSC Convention. The scholarship amount will be $500 per individual/family. This scholarship gift is intended to help an attendee cover some conference expenses such as registration, airfare, transportation, meals and incidentals. Scholarship recipients are responsible for making their own hotel and airline reservations and conference registrations. Scholarship funds are awarded to a family when they return from the convention. Fill out an ONLINE Application today!
